Welcome to Don Dilworth's home page! Here you will find artwork in several genres. Select your favorite and click here to contact me to arrange for your purchase.
These paintings are mostly in oil on canvas, covering various periods from the 70's in New Orleans to more recent in New England. I have made every effort to reproduce them accurately on these pages, but for critical evaluation you should see them in person in my studio on the coast of Maine. Be aware that the appearance of a painting depends strongly on the setting, frame, and, especially, the direction, intensity, and color temperature of the illumination. I can advise you how best to display these paintings in your home or office.
All works, and the reproductions herein, are copyright © 2009 - 2018 D.C. Dilworth. Permission is granted for prospective buyers, their agents, and gallery owners and their agents to copy and distribute the jpeg files for purposes of evaluating and marketing the works.

If you are curious about how paintings like these are done, or want to be able to do it yourself, please read my book Impressionism Today: a Painter's Guide to a Timeless Genre, which you can purchase at Amazon.com. Click the picture to the left to go to Amazon.
If you are interested in art as an investment, we advise you to search the Web and visit galleries as much as you can, to get an idea of what is available at what price. Most of the modern impressionist works you will encounter are, we believe, of very inferior quality, sold to buyers who have little taste, for $2000 or less. If you like cheap paintings of this kind, by all means buy one. The pictures on this page are of a quality usually found only in some of the world's greatest museums. They are intended for the discerning connoisseur of art who is interested in acquiring truly fine works for his private collection and for savvy investors who appreciate the substantial profits to be made as the value of these works grows in the future.
These works are sold without a resale contract, which means that if you sell it in a few years for several times the price you paid, you keep the difference.
If you are interested in one of these paintings, please send me a note or phone me at 207-633-4045. I will send you a larger image so you can better view the details.

Surrealist Paintings:

Sculpture:
The sculptures below are mostly made of polyester resin applied in many layers over a metal armature. They are finished in a variety of ways; some are painted and dusted with metallic powder, others exhibit the deep color of the material as each application is tinted while still fluid. The effect is similar to marble -- since the color is in the body of the medium, not painted on top -- but the cost is less than 1/10 of what a marble sculpture of the same size would cost. We believe that the real value of a work of art lies in the inspired vision of the artist, and not in the medium. Picasso, after all, made a wonderful sculpture from old bicycle parts.
The beauty and power of these works go beyond marble or bronze, and transcend the material. Some have shapes that may be impossible to make with traditional means. We have here opened a door to a new realm of expression, never before explored.
